HISTORY

The 85-foot long tug Belzona One was sunk as an artificial reef in 70feet of water on May 30, 1990. She was originally named Mitza, but over the course of her career she was known as Iames G, Alco Caribe, and Holley. After she was heavily damaged by a fire, she was eventually purchased by Belzona America, Incorporated, who then donated her to Miami‐Dade County for use asan artificial reef. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew sheered off her upper deck, which is n o w lying in the sand next to the hull. The Belzona One rests off Key Biscayne in close proximity to two other tugs, the Belzona Two and Belzona Three, as well as the Belcher Barge.
