HISTORY

The last of three tugs donated by Belzona America, Incorporated, the 105-foot long Belzona Three was built in 1953 as the Carinthia for the LaFournier Towing Company. The tug worked for over 45 years until her engine gave o u t and she was deemed too expensive to refurbish. Byrd Diving and Salvage Company of Miami prepared the tug for use as an artificial reef. The vessel was renamed Belzona Three, and she was sunk on June 25, 1991. Approximately 100feet due west of Belzona One and 150 feet east-southeast of Belzona Two, the Belzona Three is the largest and most intact of the three tugs.
